Annexe Christmas Party!

Haha can’t believe the bespectacled girl with a pony tail who sat beside me during chinese lessons in primary school turned out to be one of the NBS pageants. Nice. :)

Army mates… Look at the cans of beer and bottles of hard liquor

My favourite picture. But my mom’s worst nightmare. She totally freaked out when she saw this pic the next day.

So December felt like a long month. Wasn’t that great but i would settle for it.

Steve Jobs

Spent the past week in camp finishing up the biography of Steve Jobs. I don’t know what prompted me to purchase the 40 odd dollars book from Kinokuniya the moment I stepped in… I guess we re all curious about the lives of all these famous people. What I admire the most about him isn’t about his great achievements unparalled to any person living in his time, but the fact that he has an ambition and went to fulfill it at a young age. This is what I’ve been lacking. Another admirable trait about him is his pursuit of perfection, although it comes at a price though. Great man (perhaps not a great father). RIP Steve Jobs.

Love is overrated. But once in awhile, we can make do with a bit of love.

The Traveller in Me

Now that the dust has settled and camp life is starting to get back to its usual slow pace… I finally find myself having lots of time. Lots of time to think bout the past, to reflect on my current situation and to let my mind wander. I’m itching to be free. I want to venture into uncharted waters, to explore places that have fascinated me since I was young. Hope my ORD trip will be a kickass one.

Post Brunei

Has been more than a week since i came back from Brunei and it’s definitely worthy of a post. Brunei wasn’t easy at all, but it wasn’t as difficult as what i had expected. Life in Brunei goes at a very very slow pace, but our training there was conducted at a damn fast pace. So fast that we had to be on the ball always. So fast that i had to pen down my thoughts on my moleskin before i sleep every night to keep me sane.

Another week beckons. Gonna be one of the most memorable weeks of my life in army once i’m done with it. Exercise Ignite, 72km route march and finally the red beret ceremony. The red beret - The main reason why all of us go through this shit for 10 months. Just so we can lay our hands on this baby.

I hope i have the strength and courage to get through this week in a piece. I don’t want to fall out halfway or sustain some stupid injury that will cause me to look back and regret.

Halloween Dog Parade 2011. Tompkins Square Park. East Village, New York City.

I attended what is quite possibly my favorite annual event in my neighborhood, the Halloween Dog Parade 2011. It has taken place every year for the last 21 years in Tompkins Square Park which is located in the East Village. Dog lovers from everywhere dress their dogs up to compete for various prizes. The costumes were awesome as usual. In terms of topical costumes, there were a few Occupy Wall Street dog costumes.

My face hurts from smiling so much because it’s impossible not to smile since the level of cute is so high it is off the charts!

If you would like to see all the photos I have (which are over 100!), feel free to go through the album on my Flickr:
